Christmas and New Years in Morocco- solo need advice?
ByI am a single female (26) will be (27yrs old) in December (African American) and I am planning on going to Portugal for a few days then to Morocco. Vacation dates December 18th – January 2nd. Any advice on what do to? How to get around? cultural how not to put my food in my mouth etc?
I’m amazed of some of you women, how you can think/plan way ahead of time like that, I can never plan something past tomorrow..lol..
To answer your question, just be YOU, no adjustment necessary really,we are no different than any other ordinary* people of this world.

There isn’t much that you have to know, you’re not a teenager so you should have some common sense. You’re not supposed to eat with your left hand, and don’t show too much of your goodies around. It’s not very cold in Morocco that time of year, around 50 or 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Since you’re going to be pretty much going around solo, you don’t have to adhere as much to the cultural etiquette, but should know it in the event that you’re asked to dinner or make some new Moroccan friends. Depending on where you go in Morocco, you will have to feel out how conservative the area is.

That link gives a little insight into what you will be facing. As far as getting around, they have buses and taxi cabs all over, and if you feel more comfortable just wandering alone, you can rent a car – many of the same companies we have here in the USA they have in Morocco. Avis, Enterprise, Budget, as well as many companies from Europe. If you want to do that, you’ll have to observe the flow of traffic, it is so much different (and appears to be dangerous) than anything I’ve seen here in the USA. What to do! Sight seeing! Go to the shops, go to the Cafes, they have movie theatres and everything that they have other places. Pool halls and Cafes would be good places to make some new friends! Good luck planning.
