the cheapest aren’t online, you can easily find them once you are there but for your first night, choose something well known like a 3 star so that you sleep well because of time difference. I advise you to book online or by phone with IBIS which is an international franchise.

Ok the first question was where in Morocco… so you want around Taza… the answer is all the same.
1. You DON’T want the cheapest hotels they are going to be small, cramped, smell and otherwise be completely nasty… there are many hostels that are literally a bed (lumps and all) and a dresser if you are lucky (you share one bathroom with everyone.
2. You DON’T want to book online. You are going to pay 10X as much to get the same thing as negotating a price there.
What I reccommend you to do is to book a couple nights hotel at a *** hotel (they are very inexpensive) and then you can negotiate a lower rate there or at other places.
My wife and I were able to stay at the beach in Agadir in an Apartment with a Pool for about a month very very inexpensive (and it had its own restaurant downstairs).
The first night we stayed at an Accor hotel (Hotel 8 in the US) which was 20 minutes from the beach (I didn’t know that!) and we paid for a night there from online what we payed for a week in a full apartment.
